  • Budget Crisis - Message from Principal Brown

    Updated 4/24/2017

Final meeting is at Webster at 6:00 p.m.

As you know, our district is managing a serious budget crisis resulting from the state’s projected 2017-2018 revenue failure. The district leadership team has carefully and thoroughly reviewed every viable option to achieve the cost savings we need to offset an expected $12 million reduction in state funding. These funding cuts mean that Tulsa Public Schools must make incredibly difficult decisions to balance our 2017-2018 budget. Superintendent Gist presented a recommendation to the Tulsa Board of Education to consolidate Park Elementary School, ECDC Porter, and Remington Elementary School to form a larger elementary site to be housed at Clinton Middle School. Students and staff at Clinton Middle School will move to Webster High School to form a larger secondary site.

We are working to schedule an informational meeting for parents, families, and community members by the end of the month and will share more information about the changes at that time. While our school community may look differently next year, our commitment to your children is unwavering and we will do all that we can to ensure a smooth transition in the coming school year. Moving forward, I know that you may have questions and concerns about how these changes will affect your family. Please don’t hesitate to send those to me, and I will work with the district leadership team to address them during our parent and community meeting.
